No I am not making an elaborate joke months before April Fools Day, you read correctly. Sega is releasing an all new Sonic the Hedgehog game that is in high definition and more importantly in 2D.

The majority of core gamers have clamored for years, raged on gaming forums, and prayed to the gaming gods, for Sega to make such a move for their beloved, but recently downfallen mascot, and it seems they might get it. The teaser trailer even features the classic Sega intro, certainly an indication of what direction and audience the game is playing to.

Right now the teaser trailer only shows a 2010 release for the game, which for now is going under the codename Project Needlemouse, and nothing else of what platform or console the game will be released on. Check the video feed here on Games Abyss to see the tease trailer.
