CrysisEA’s powerhouse first-person shooter, Crysis, has been the quintessential beast when it comes to running it on a PC that isn’t a gift from NASA. It required system specs that are even high by today’s standards, almost a full year later, but offers a visual and gaming experience that is simply fantastic. Well, EA has been gearing up their hype-machine lately and psyching up the lucky high-end PC gamers with their next release for the Crysis franchise, Crysis Warhead.

On the official website for the game we finally have the system specs for the new Crysis:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better

RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better

VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory

Storage: 15GB

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible

ODD: DVD-ROM

OS: Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Vista

DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10

Basically it boils down to this: if you were able to run Crysis you can run Warhead just fine, though if you had trouble with EA’s island shooter, don’t even attempt the new adventure featuring Psycho, the first game’s gung-ho squad mate.

In a bit of good news for those fans that look forward to running Warhead on their super-machines, the game is slated for release. Not only does it have a release date, but it is closer than you think.

It seems strange as EA just recently began their media blitz for Warhead, but it is indeed true. Electronic Arts released a statement saying that Crysis Warhead would launch in September. September 16th for the States, this is four days after the European release of September 12th.

Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek said, “We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers. Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.”
